No fake jobs. No fees. No funny business.

Job scams are rising fast: FTC data shows reported job-scam losses grew from about $90M in 2020 to about $501M in 2024. Here's how we keep them out.

Verified employers only

Business website, work email, EIN, address and phone are checked, then a person approves. Unverified employers can draft jobs but can't go live.

Automatic scam filters

Posts and chats are scanned for upfront fees, check-cashing and gift-card schemes, crypto and wire requests, requests for SSNs or bank details, and pushes to Telegram or WhatsApp.

Messages held, not delivered

A chat message asking for money or personal data is held before the other person sees it, and our trust team reviews it.

Pay you can trust

Every post shows a pay range. Rates below the minimum wage are flagged; rates far above market get a human look, since inflated pay is a classic lure.

Fair hiring language

We flag wording that screens by age, sex, national origin, religion, family status or disability before a post publishes.

One-tap reporting

Report any job from its page. Three reports pause it automatically while we investigate.

Red flags: walk away if someone…
  • ✕ Asks you to pay for training, a kit, a uniform or a background check
  • ✕ Sends you a check and asks you to send money back
  • ✕ Wants to pay you in gift cards or crypto
  • ✕ Asks for your SSN or bank login before you're hired
  • ✕ Insists on moving to Telegram, WhatsApp or text right away
  • ✕ Offers pay that's way above every other job like it

ShowUp will never ask you for money. Report anything suspicious from the job page or the chat, or contact our trust team. You can also report scams to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
